Back in Montreal within 6 months. Am just glad that it’s early november where its not so cold and there are no minus temperatures. :) Weather was pretty good actually the 3 days i was there.

Am not so sure what to do in Montreal, i mean, I was told that if i want to see old architectures, they are all in Europe ? And that i should explore Quebec instead…. go out to the wilderness, visit the cabins and hunt some black bears? Er…..lets just say 3 days is not enough for that.

But I have wonderful memories of this place. I was last here 14-15 years ago as a student. Back then,  I met up with many friends, made new friends, slept thru half of the trip due to jetlag, went to the little chinese cafes where i had my cheap student dinners, seeing snow for the 1st time, had “frozen face” for walking too long outside  at -15 degrees celsius, watching movies at St Catherine’s….

Montreal will always be a special place for me.

Was staying at the fashionably hip Le Petit hotel in Montreal.

Situated along Rue St Paul Ouest in old montreal, its a gem of a find. The hotel is surrounded by art galleries and fancy restaurants. Its has the atmosphere of a hip bar where the coolest people hang out. The hotel staffs are extremely friendly and helpful. I was made to feel right at home the moment I stepped thru the door, of course, with them being good looking and beautiful helps. I hope you can understand what i mean.

“Zen” music fills the air  when i opened the door, very hip. The rooms are huge. I mean, if you have stayed in the hotels at Opera in Paris, you will know that the room consist of a bed and a walkway of the same width. In my room at Le Petit, its like 5-10 times the size of that !!

Breakfast is also decent. Croissants, yoghurt, fruits……

Within a short walk of Le Petit is Chinatown, not sure how far, maybe 3-5 km away. OK, its nothing spectacular like those in New York or Vancouver but its a place I have been 15 years ago. Looks like nothing changed except for the shops.

Ahhhh…Beef Congee on a cold sunday morning……memories……

Somethings does not change. I feel like a 20 year old again :)

In my teens, i was crazy over comics, throw me anything and i would read them non-stop for hours. I remember the Fantastic Four, Spawn, Lobo……I still have Spawn Issue 1, nicely wrapped up with a cardboard backing.

and then i moved on to Japanese Manga. Dragonball, Slam Dunk, Angel Heart, City Hunter……

Never did i expect the culture to take on a life of its own….with Cosplay !! STGCC, a comic fair that attracted 35,000 people over the weekend. I was just upset that i did not bring my flash, my pictures ended up looking flat, unlike these.

I admit that i am out of date, i have no idea who most of these characters are. If you want, here is a Manga site for you to catch up.

Know what’s worse ?? I don’t know if some of the people there are in character or are they for real. There was this nice lady in a wheelchair……but at the same time she feels like professor X.

Man….my mind is screwed.

Know anyone ?

Its not only Cosplay. There are booth selling toys, famous or almost famous artists signing autographs, figurines and gaming competitions.

Even Sushi Chefs !!! now this is a manga that i would like to read.

For any superhero, you still have to go to the ATM if you need cash………

What amazes me was that these Cosplay guys and girls are totally professionals. We met them on the way to lunch, outside of the exhibition halls, and they are still in their poses, costumes and gears !!!  Ready to strike a pose should you ask for it.

I will ask them to when they are on their way back on the subways next time………..

We caught the Pikachus on their break :) They are my favorites !!

or rather, i think they are the only ones i recognized…..

arggghhhh…..i feel old…….

Am in Spain for few days for a meeting.

“Do you want to come visit us in Mallorca for a day?  “ A friend asked.

“We are having our pre-summer holidays, going on a yacht, enjoying the sun ….we can watch the Euro Cup……….the…” I couldn’t hear the rest.  The picture of pristine beaches, ladies in bikinis, or with no bikinis, hunks with perfectly sculptured 6-pack bodies comes to mind…. and lots of beer.

I looked at my pale pasty self, the “united nations” belly and thought, its time they see some sun!!!

Mallorca is part of the Balearic Islands, which also comprises of Ibiza. Friends tell me that its also the place where the Scandinavians, British and Germans come to play. Good, I wouldn’t be the only one who looks like a codfish on a plate. :) 1 day it is !!

Palma is where the boat resides. I can only show you bits and pieces of it.

“No photos of my boat on Facebook” look was plastered all his face.

Respect…I would show only bits and pieces ok ?

Thats not the boat :)

So where are you going for your summer holidays ?
